About My Public Service

People might think that this blog is solely union bashing from a glance, of course where is the fun otherwise, but in substance it is about a better public service to which obstacles exist. Navigating the intertwined mess of politics and presumably independent public service will shine some light on those rent-seeking obstacles.

Recently, most if not all major unions in Canada took only the bright side of the Rand formula when they refused to grieve the vaccine mandates imposed by the federal government on employees, taking their money and throwing them in front of the bus. They did not uphold their part of the deal by refusing to represent members over a political difference of opinion, falling in dereliction of duty.

All of this could have been avoided if members could have pulled away their funding when their union refused to represent them. Instead, many went with a procedure they objected to or were not ready for to keep from losing their livelihoods, others lost the careers they were genuinely invested in.

Unions have become political action committees fueled by a cut of the entire unionized Canadian workforce. With an agenda that is not only is a nuisance to some members, but all Canadians, their favorite policies are increasing everyone's cost of life at a rate their wages will not follow. But unions likely consider this a means to an end to impose their hegemony of influence on the Canadian political landscape.

To put it simply, if it was not for the unions influence on maintaining archaic work organization, Canadian citizens would not be on the hook for such high taxes. While their influence in politics, which might just be the tip of the iceberg, certainly contributed to our concerning deficit.
My Public Service exist as a think tank to explore, discuss and promote how our public service can be at the service of Canadians.

Unions were a major player explaining the political playing field shift to the left of Canadian politics. Unions have long portrayed themselves as acting for the greater good, but lately we could see how much the greater good can be used as an pretext for all kinds of tomfoolery. This does not date from yesterday, but the conversation was impossible to have until enough members were deceived and saw their true colors.

This initiative was born out of the realization that many public servants were shown the door for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with performance, meanwhile those who have not lifted their own weight for years were never bothered by looming job loss. Those willing public servants want to provide testimony, tell their story and first-hand account of the reality that contrast with the official message, showing the absurdity of the situation.

We provide the other side of the medal that no one else will, because they benefit from it or wish they did. Subscribing will ensure you do not miss a post, receive our members only newsletters and become eligible for additional features as they become available. This is a limited time opportunity for founding members to obtain grandfathered full access for life as recognition for their contribution to building this community.

My Public Service seeks to enable Canadian citizens to get the public service they pay for, through influencing public opinion to expose and counter the ravages of union ideology and its impacts on work organization, work culture and business outcomes. Decades of decline require an arduous realization which will be facilitated by testimony and history. The Rand formula collection will serve to illustrate that the means given to unions to represent and defend members became primarily a means of political activism.

This is just getting started, your contribution will be necessary to enable this much necessary uphill battle to ensure that solely competence, talent and merit are the drivers of the machine at the service of Canadians. It is the only way it can serve Canadians of all stripes.
